The school year at the Barn runs from mid-September through early June, and to provide continuity for our children, classes remain consistent throughout the year. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, we will hold a lottery to place new members for the 2010-2011 school year. Applications will be accepted until 4PM that day, and notifications will be made by Monday, January 25, 2010.
Prior to the lottery, we have several opportunities for you and your family to visit the Barn, ask questions, get to know the teachers, and talk with current members about their experiences.
Open Houses: We hold two informational Open Houses each year to provide your entire family the opportunity to spend a little time at the Barn. During an Open House, you will have the opportunity to speak with the teachers and current Barn family members. We will be on hand to answer your questions or to discuss any issues you may have. This year our Fall Open House will be held from 10AM-12PM on Saturday, November 7, 2009 and our Winter Open House will be held from 10AM-12PM on Saturday, January 23, 2010, just prior to the lottery.
Tours: We begin providing tours of our school in early November, so that you may see a class in action. This is an excellent opportunity for you to bring your child in and see how they react to the surroundings. To minimize the disruption to the classes, we keep these tours short (approximately 20 minutes), and we time them to occur during Free Play so transitions for the children in the classes can go smoothly and with as few distractions as possible. We realize that it is frequently difficult to leave such a friendly, welcoming environment, but we ask that you respect our guidelines. We have developed many strategies for easing the transition for your child, and we would be delighted to continue our discussions outside on the playground. Each year, two of our parents act as Membership Co-Chairs. They are available for you via phone, and will be happy to discuss our program in depth or to answer any questions you might have.
